3. Summarize the global impact of nationalism (limit to 200 words/ 1/2 page)

From the events of the French Revolution, it sparked the idea of nationalism. Political powers soon came to believe that to have a strong ruling the specific area of ruling must be unified. Too have an area that is divided makes it more harder to expand and grow in power. With Italy and Germany to two nations unified their land of area to create a stronger area. The land there was once just divided areas of ruling or under the land of another control. With the two, they fought against other nations in wars to fight for their independence. Once the two nations did gain their own title, the two nations sought to believe that their ideals and ways are the best, thus they would go out and “spread” their ideals.
However Britain at the time, controlled a large amount of land and they too believe that their way of ruling. The nation went out to expand and basically ruled in all parts of the continent in the work. However with the growing sense of nationalism, nations rebelled against original European rulers to create their own sense of nationalism.
The impact of nationalism cause people to grow in political power. Areas would unify to create a specific area to rule. However with nationalism it provided the motivation or driving force to go out and conquer new land. Italy and Germany sparked WWI because they felt they has the ability to conquer the best. The USA went out to gain more land in NA because they thought they were given the divine right to rule. (manifestation) The UK believe that they were the best in political power because of the around of foreign land that was once controlled.

  • Which of the data sets above do you think is the most significant? Why? The second set of data is most significant because it shows the increase of iron production. With the increase of iron production it would show how tech is advancing to increase production as well the implying the increase of trade numbers.

Summary:
Nationalism,Industrialization both connect together to be the result of Imperialism. Nationalism first off is the self pride of one's country. While Industrialization is when the country's economy is growing exponentially. With the pride of the country it was due to the advancing technology and industry. Countries began to have factories where people were allow to job as well as the company making more and more money. Because of nationalism and industrialization, the country believe that the prosperity makes them great and that they could spread on their greatness or the fact that it gives the country the divine right to rule.
For example, the Industrial Revolution began first in UK with factories spreading and job rates increasing. The increase of factories sparked economic wealth among companies. The money could have been use for the growing military and other military powers. Already the nation has colonies and with it was probably the thought of just having more. The idea that their good luck would continue. The UK went out to conquer South Africa, India, Polynesians Islands, and in South Americas. With the newly conquered, economy of the UK was increasing greatly due to large amounts of plantations as well as trade. All in all, the ideas of nationalism and industrialization led the imperialism or the taking over of land around the world.
